Copper zinc solution Drug groups Trace element Copper

The copper zinc solution is a preparation for external use which contains copper sulfate, zinc sulfate and camphor. The solution is attributed, among other things, to contracting, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Possible applications include inflammatory and infectious diseases of the skin and eyes.

synonymous: Solutio zinco-cuprica composita PH, alibour water, dalibour solution, Dalibouri aqua, copper zinc water
Products

The copper zinc solution is not available in Switzerland as a finished medicine and must be produced in pharmacies as a magistral formulation. The specialist trade can also order them from specialized service providers. The copper zinc solution is also known as Eau d'Alibour (Alibour was a Frenchman). The also used names “Dalibour solution” and “ Dalibouri aqua” are not linguistically correct.
Composition and production

Preparation according to the Pharmacopoea Helvetica 10:

A Copper(II) sulphate pentahydrate 0.10 g
B Zinc sulfate heptahydrate 0.40 g
C Camphergeist 1.0 g
D Purified water 98.5 g

The campher spirit is added to the freshly boiled and cooled to 20° C. purified water. The mixture is shaken well until it is completely clear. Subsequently, the copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate and the zinc sulfate heptahydrate are dissolved therein. The copper zinc solution is a clear, almost colorless, Kampfercombat-smelling liquid.

The Formium Helveticum (FH) describes the preparation of a concentrated solution (Dalibouri aqua fortis FH). It additionally contains polysorbate 20 . The corresponding production regulation can be found in the strain gauge. In previous editions of Pharmacopoea Helvetica, saffrantincture Safrantinkturwas included in the solution.
Effects

The copper zinc solution has, among other things, contracting, tanning, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial and antiseptic properties.
Application areas

For the treatment of inflammatory and infectious skin and eye diseases.

I have some camphor crystal, filtered water and 99% isopropol. How to used what I have to integrate into this recipe https://www.pharmawiki.ch/wiki/index.php?wiki=Kupferzink-L%C3%B6sung

I don't have [Ethanol mit 0.1 % Campher](https://www.pharmawiki.ch/wiki/index.php?wiki=Ethanol mit 0.1 % Cam

To integrate your camphor crystals, filtered water, and 99% isopropanol into the Kupferzink-Lösung recipe where "Camphergeist" (a camphor spirit) is required, you can prepare a camphor spirit substitute by dissolving camphor crystals in isopropanol instead of ethanol.

Camphor spirit typically contains about 9-11 g camphor per 100 mL of ethanol (usually 80-87% ethanol). Since you don't have ethanol with 0.1% camphor, you can:

Weigh out the required amount of camphor crystals (e.g., 1 g camphor for a 10 mL preparation).

Dissolve the camphor crystals in 99% isopropanol by stirring or shaking until fully dissolved.

Use this camphor-isopropanol solution as a substitute for "Camphergeist" in the Kupferzink-Lösung recipe.

For reference, the Kupferzink-Lösung preparation according to the PharmaWiki involves:

0.10 g copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate,

0.40 g zinc sulfate heptahydrate,

1.0 g camphor spirit,

98.5 g purified water.

You would replace the 1.0 g camphor spirit (Kampfergeist) with your camphor dissolved in isopropanol. Mix the purified water cooled to about 20°C with the camphor-isopropanol solution first, then dissolve the copper and zinc sulfates into this mixture until clear.

Note: Isopropanol is somewhat more irritating than ethanol, and the substitution may slightly change the properties and tolerability of the final preparation. Use this for external application
